The Natura 2000
Networking Programme (NNP) 'Train the Trainers' event will involve 30
Natura 2000 site managers and landowners.
The training programme
will focus on good practice management for Natura 2000, and on the discussion
of problems associated with the implementation of Natura 2000, in order
to find common solutions for both private stakeholders and public authorities.
This is the first
event in a roll-out programme of activities to be implemented throughout
2007. Over the course of the year 15 Member State level workshop events
will tackle key Natura 2000 site management issues, on a thematic basis.
The NNP specifies
an integrated approach, recognising the essential contributions of different
stakeholders responsible for and interacting with Europe's rich diversity
of Natura 2000 sites and surrounding areas. Focusing on communication,
capacity building and the value of working in partnership to achieve
nature conservation objectives, the Natura 2000 Networking Programme
will create a series of training events, themed workshops and practical
tools to promote Natura 2000, good practice in site management and the
benefits of networking, across Europe. The Natura 2000 Networking Programme
is funded by the European Commission and managed on their behalf by
Eurosite, the European Landowners Organization and the EUROPARC Federation.

Natura
2000 Networking Programme -Natura 2000 and Tourism
- The European system of protected nature sites
called Natura 2000 more and more secures quality of life –
not only for plants and animals, but also for people including
their sustainable business activities. Meanwhile, successful examples
of co-operations arise from the conflicting field of nature conservation
versus tourism. In many protected area regions tourism as economic
sector profits demonstrably from protected area services, such
as securing landscapes and services to visitors as well as a positive
image. At the same time, nature conservation tasks enjoy visitors’
attention and recognition.
The conference is dedicated to the wide field of tensions and
good partnership examples, as well as to tested and new ideas.

Wild
Places, Open Spaces: Natura 2000 on the North West Coast |
Prince
of Wales Hotel, Southport, United Kingdom |
13-11-07
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Over 80% of
North West England's coast is designated for its international
value for wildlife and/or habitats but are we making the most
of the opportunities these designations bring?
The North
West Coastal Forum and Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council are
pleased to announce a joint regional event exploring the opportunities
offered by Natura 2000 - the collective branding for Special Protection
Areas and Special Areas of Conservation - including funding opportunities
for site managers and examples from other areas of both the EU
and the UK
where the Natura 2000 label has been used successfully as a brand
to boost
tourism and marketing of local products. Relevance for North West
sites and
initiatives will be explored and there will be plenty of opportunities
for
questions and discussion.
