The typical bird species include Carduelis cannabina, Carpodacus erythrinus and Carduelis chloris; typical and representative vascular plant species are such as Thalictrum simplex, Scutellaria hastifolia, Hypericum perforatum, Inula salicina and Verbascum nigrum.
There are also representative herb rich forest compartments such as Juntola grove in the northern part of the valley.

The quality restoration of the core area near Askala hydroelectric power station (build in 1930s ) has been carried out by "Paimion seudun ympäristöyhdistys" (Association for environmental issues in Paimio region) in co-operaton with local stakeholders such as farmers, landowners and municipalities.

Finnish Agri-Environmental programme special supports such as "management of traditional rural biotopes" and "enhancement of biodiversity" have been in key role in the restoration and starting of management during 1995-2006.
