Promoting Natura 2000 at the local level Natura 2000 is promoted by articles in the newspaper Adebar of the biosphere reserve Flusslandschaft Elbe-Brandenburg and also by informing visitors at our info-point and on trips. A handbook of all NSG's in Brandenburg, which is going to be developed, includes our Natura 2000 sites. Moreover, two LIFE NATURE projects have been implemented (1994-1998, 1999-2003), currently one LIFE-Co-op project on Bittern protection is carried out.
Involving local stakeholders in the management planning process - creating a local area partnership Yes, it exist the workgroup "farming" since 1996, where we discussed the bordering of our Natura 2000 sites with local farmers.
Involved in European networking / Twinned with other site for knowledge exchange
There was a twinning with the Staatsbosbeheer Region Flevoland/Overijssel from april 1997 till october 2000: Floodplain restoration, environmental education, Re-establishing of Floodplain forest; Member of European Stork villages group, exchange on stork protection with Spain, Japan, Poland.
 
"LIFE-CO-op projeczt on bittern protection": The main aim of the currently carried out LIFE-Co-op project on bittern (Botaurus stellaris) protection is to improve the understanding of bittern ecology and habitat requirements among EU countries by collecting and disseminating the experiences and results of bittern EU LIFE projects. The visible result will be a 'Handbook for actions to promote bittern protection n Europe'. Project partners are the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (UK) and the Ligue pur la protection des Oiseaux (France).
