Promoting
Natura 2000 at the local level |
Natura
2000 is promoted by articles in the newspaper Adebar of the biosphere
reserve Flusslandschaft Elbe-Brandenburg and also by informing visitors
at our info-point and on trips. A handbook of all NSG's in Brandenburg,
which is going to be developed, includes our Natura 2000 sites. Moreover,
two LIFE NATURE projects have been implemented (1994-1998, 1999-2003),
currently one LIFE-Co-op project on Bittern protection is carried out. |
Involving
local stakeholders in the management planning process - creating a local
area partnership |
Yes,
it exist the workgroup "farming" since 1996, where we discussed the bordering
of our Natura 2000 sites with local farmers. |
Involved
in European networking / Twinned with other site for knowledge exchange |
There
was a twinning with the Staatsbosbeheer Region Flevoland/Overijssel from
april 1997 till october 2000: Floodplain restoration, environmental education,
Re-establishing of Floodplain forest; Member of European Stork villages
group, exchange on stork protection with Spain, Japan, Poland.
"LIFE-CO-op projeczt
on bittern protection": The main aim of the currently carried out LIFE-Co-op
project on bittern (Botaurus stellaris) protection is to improve the
understanding of bittern ecology and habitat requirements among EU countries
by collecting and disseminating the experiences and results of bittern
EU LIFE projects. The visible result will be a 'Handbook for actions
to promote bittern protection n Europe'. Project partners are the Royal
Society for the Protection of Birds (UK) and the Ligue pur la protection
des Oiseaux (France).
